Editor's Verdict

Official Review
Trello is the tool that made Kanban mainstream, and its strength is still its simplicity: boards, lists, and cards you drag from column to column, with checklists, due dates, attachments, and comments living inside each card. There's almost no learning curve, which is exactly why it works for people and teams that find Asana or Jira heavyweight — marketing calendars, content pipelines, personal to-dos, simple project tracking. The free plan is genuinely generous (unlimited cards, up to 10 boards per workspace), and Premium at $5/user/month adds calendar and timeline views, unlimited boards, and more automation. Butler, the built-in no-code automation, is an underrated feature that handles repetitive card-moving and scheduling well. The honest ceiling is also its design: Trello is deliberately lightweight, so once a project needs dependencies, resource management, multiple linked workflows, or detailed reporting, you'll outgrow it and Asana, ClickUp, or Jira become the better fit. It's also owned by Atlassian, so it slots neatly alongside Jira for teams already in that ecosystem. For visual, single-pipeline work that benefits from at-a-glance clarity, though, Trello remains one of the most pleasant and approachable tools there is.
