Both run entirely in the browser with no install, which makes Pixlr genuinely valuable on Chromebooks, tablets, and locked-down work machines where you can't put Photoshop. The free tier is real and ad-supported; Premium is $9.99/month, or $7.99 a month billed annually, and adds AI tools like background cutout and generative fill plus an ad-free experience and a large stock library. We previously quoted Premium at $4.90, which is not a price Pixlr publishes. The honest trade-offs: it's not a true Photoshop replacement for heavy professional retouching or huge files, performance depends on your browser and machine, and the free tier is ad-supported with the best AI features reserved for Premium.
