Pricing & free tier — last checked
How we checked: read directly from the vendor's own pricing page — source
Listed as completely free, typed free, live on our free tools page and featured on our homepage — for a product Anthropic states requires a paid plan, linked to a domain that is not Anthropic's and is for sale.
| What | What we found | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Requires a paid Claude plan. Anthropic states it under the install button: "Available on all paid plans. Not on a paid plan? Upgrade now."Anthropic's pricing page lists Free at $0 for Claude itself, with Pro above it and Max from $100 per month. The extension is not part of the free tier, so there is no free path to this product. | Changed since last check |
| Where our link pointed | claudeforchrome.com — not an Anthropic domainThat site's own footer reads: "This page was created with Claude Code - Entertainment project only, no commercial use intended | Domain for sale". Repointed to claude.com/claude-in-chrome. | Changed since last check |
| Homepage placement | Was featured at rank 4 of 8. Removed. The strongest placement on the site was pointing at an unaffiliated for-sale domain and calling a subscription product free. | Changed since last check |
| What the extension does | Reads the page you are signed in to, then clicks, types and fills forms with your approval | Confirmed |
| Prompt injection risk | Acknowledged by Anthropic as an active, unsolved problem for browsing agentsRelevant to anyone weighing whether to let it act unattended on logged-in accounts. | Confirmed |
Editor verification notes
- We publish a warning about exactly this pattern on our Sora 2 listing — unaffiliated sites trading on a well-known AI product's name — and then did it ourselves, on the homepage. The corrected page names the domain so readers can recognise it.
Checked by the TheToolsVerse Verification Desk — by reading the vendor's own published pages, not by testing the product in an account. Claude in Chrome can change prices at any time without notice. The date above is the last time we looked; if it looks old, treat every figure here as unconfirmed and check Claude in Chrome directly before paying.

Pros
What we like
- Brings Claude into the browser with the current page as context
- Reliable for page summarization and email or writing drafting
- Removes copy-paste friction of a separate chat tab
- Official Anthropic extension, installed from claude.com or the Chrome Web Store
Cons
Limitations
- Agentic web automation is emerging and can be error-prone
- Acting across logged-in sites raises security and privacy considerations
- Best supervised rather than left to act unattended on sensitive accounts
- Requires a paid Claude plan — there is no free-tier access to the extension
- Lookalike domains trade on this product's name; install only from claude.com or the Chrome Web Store
Pricing
Not free, and this listing said it was. Anthropic states the requirement directly beneath the install button on claude.com/claude-in-chrome: "Available on all paid plans. Not on a paid plan? Upgrade now." Their pricing page lists a Free tier at $0 for Claude itself, with Pro above it and Max from $100 per month, and the Chrome extension is not included in the free tier. So the cost of using this is the cost of a Claude subscription, and there is no free path to it. Checked 7 September 2026.
